GUIDELINES TO CONTRIBUTORS

About the manuscript

  1. Manuscript must be the original work(s) of the author(s). Authors and co-authors must consent to their manuscript being submitted to TRES for publication.
  2. All manuscripts must be written in English Language.
  3. The manuscript should be typed, with Times New Roman, font 12 and 1.5 line-spacing.
  4. The length of the manuscript should not exceed 15pages for empirical papers and 18 pages for review articles.
  5. The style, Tables, Figures and References should conform to the APA format.
  6. Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Words (.doc, docx).
  7. Manuscript should include the following elements:
  • Title
  • Author’s name and institutional affiliation
  • Abstract
  • Body
  • References

Title

Title should summarize the main idea of the whole manuscript, concise and unique is also important. The first letter of each notional word should be written in a capital letter.

 Author’s name and institutional affiliation

All the authors’ names should be shown in the manuscripts. The preferred form of an author’s name is first name, middle name and last name (surname) without any titles (e.g., Dr., Professor) or degrees (e.g., PhD, EdD).

The institutional affiliation identifies the location where the author(s) was or were when the research was conducted, which is usually a university or an organization. The component parts should include corresponding address, city, country, telephone number and email address. An article that has multiple authors should please indicate the corresponding author.

 Abstract

The abstract should be in one paragraph and provide a concise description of the objectives of the study, methods used, major findings and conclusion. Abstracts should be in single line spacing, NOT italicized and NOT more than 250 words. After the abstract, 3 to 5 keywords must be listed.

Body

In an original empirical study, Body usually consists of Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion. Review articles and short reports should be organized using headings and sub-headings appropriate to the content. Tables should be in single line paragraphing and 0 spacing.

Tables

Tables should be inserted into the body of the manuscript with the first reference to them. With regard to the format of table, you should put table’s caption before the table body and table note. Use 9 points font size all through. Authors should avoid the use of TABS and spacing between lines. Table must be in usual format. Coloured tables and figures may be reprinted in black and white unless the authors indicate they want them in coloured prin. In which case, the cost will be borne by the author.

 Figures

Figures should be placed with the first reference to them in the body of manuscript. You should put the figure’s caption and description below the figure body.

 Acknowledgement

Authors are free to decide whether acknowledgement is needed in the article or not.

 References

Strictly adhere to the latest APA style of referencing including in-text.

 Manuscript submission

 All manuscripts should be submitted electronically either online using this link: www.tresjournal.com.ng or through e-mail attachment to tresjournal@uniport.edu.ng

Submission is continuous and articles received late will be reviewed and published in the immediate next edition.

Quitclaim: The views in articles published with TRES are solely that of the authors who are liable to any errors therein.

Peer Review and Publication Process

  1. A full double-blind refereeing process is used that comprises of the following steps.
  2. A preliminary review for content and form is done by the Chief Editor, and a notification of the adequacy and acceptability is communicated to the author immediately. Papers that do not meet the standard and scope of the journal are rejected at this point.
  3. Upon confirmation of adequacy, the author is requested to pay a review fee of 5,000 Naira. Once the review fee is paid, the paper is sent to 2 reviewers for review.
  4. The reviewers’ recommendations largely determine whether a paper is accepted or rejected and the extent of changes that are required.
  5. For papers which require changes, internal editors will follow up to ensure that these are effected.
  6. Upon publication, the authors will be issued with links to their publication.
  7. Authors requiring hardcopy print of the issue in which their paper appears can make orders and this will be processed on demand at the payment of N5,000 or $30 for foreign authors.

Plagiarism Policy and Implementation

The TRES expects all authors submitting manuscripts to abide by ethical standard and refrain from plagiarism, in any form. Our Editors will investigate every suspected case of plagiarism before and after the publication of the manuscript. When the text plagiarized is minor (less than 25% of the text), the author(s) will be given an opportunity to make the necessary corrections. When the piracy is extensive (greater than 25% of the text) the author(s) will be provided a chance to explain within two weeks. If no response from the author(s) after the deadline period, the manuscript will be rejected.

Ethical Clearance  

Consistent with the ethical standards of the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards, authors submitting the findings of research investigation that involves human subjects, must include a statement in the Methods Section to the fact that the protocol was approved by appropriate Institution’s Ethics Committee.

Publication charge

 Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication will be required to pay a publication charge of N25,000 for Nigerian authors and USD70 for foreign authors before the accepted manuscript can be published.
